 NIKEPHORIAN BYZANTINE     963AD  to  1042AD

I bought the Army from Essex Miniatures while at the Worlds, Donnington Park. 

    It's an army that I'd always liked but never owned, the intention being to start with a manageable amount of figures to paint and then to add to it to build a DBMM 500AP Doubles Army.

Figures provided were:-

1 x BZA1                 Cv(General)         These 3 figures make up the Cavalry Command Element

2 x BZA23a             Cv(General)          on a 40mm. wide x 30mm. deep base

2 x BZA21               Kn  (Katapraktoi)  These 6 figures  make 2 Elements of bow and lance armed        

2 x BZA22               Kn  cavalry on half armoured horses and are. Classed as Knights. 

2 x BZA24a             Kn

8 x BZA15               Lh   (Light Horse) These 8 figures make 4 Elements of  cavalry each of
                                                                (2 per base) Bow armed with mail and helmet.


4 x BZA27               Bd  (Varangian Guard) These 4 figures make 1 Element of Saxon or Danish
                                                                       Huscarls (Axe and Shield).

3 x BZA18               Bd  (Skutatoi)          These 3 figures make 1 Element of Infantry.


3 x HSA14               Ax  (Auxiliary)        These 3 figures make 1 Element of infantry (Russ).


16 x BZA25            Bw  (Skutatoi)        
16 x BZA26            Bw  (Skutatoi Archer)


2 x BZA19              Ps (Psiloi)  Javelin men these figures make 1 Element


2 x BZA10              Ps (Psiloi)  Skutatoi Archer these figures make 1 Element.

Perry infantry at Partizan

Perry 28mm. British Infantry in Shirt Sleeve Order ready for Bolt Action game.

They can be used in actions in WWII from 1939 in France to Italy in 1943.
